Products
What is chamois?
Chamois is leather made from the flesh split of sheepskin or lambskin and tanned by processes involving oxidation of marine oils in the skin.
Genuine chamois leather is super absorbent and soft, ideal for delicate surfaces such as professional camera lenses, eyeglasses, cellphones, computer screens, tablets, watches, instruments, jewelry, pen nibs, and more.
What kind of leather do you use?
We use full grain vegetable-tanned leather from one of the most renowned American tanneries. We also use fine Italian vachetta leather from certified manufacturers on the basis of their environmental compliance and observance of strict production regulations.
Our sheepskin chamois is tanned with 100% cod oil, regarded as the best marine oil for this purpose.
What kind of hardware do you use?
All our hardware is made of solid brass. This is Low Lead Brass under 90ppm, which meets California PROP 65 and European REACH Standards. For additional protection, the items are plated with nickel-free under the brass plate to help resist tarnishing.
How do I care for my leather items?
As you unbox your new leather item, you might notice it feels a bit firm at first. Don't worry, this is completely normal. With regular use, your leather will gradually soften. Our carefully selected leathers are known for their excellent aging properties, developing a beautiful patina over time. We've crafted your products to be lifelong companions, gracefully evolving with you through the years.
To maintain suppleness and prevent cracking, keep leather away from water and heat, use a leather conditioner specifically designed for vegetable tanned leather regularly, and clean with a soft cloth and mild soap if needed, avoiding harsh chemicals. Let it air dry naturally if it gets wet.
How do I replace my cannoli wipes?
Easy peasy!
First, remove the screw from the cannoli and separate the wipes from the leather shell. A regular flat head screwdriver would do the trick. Align the new wipes with the leather shell and put back the screw making sure the visible side of the screw is on the outside.
How do I wash my cannoli wipes?
First, remove the screw from the cannoli and separate the wipes from the leather shell. Only the wipes can be washed.
When washing the chamois wipes you must use hand soap only, never a detergent or solvent. Chamois should be thoroughly washed with clean soapy water, rinsed and wrung out repeatedly until clean. Dry in a cool and shaded area, kneading it before drying out completely to prevent it from becoming hard.
Is it me or the cannoli wipes smell a little "fishy"?
They smell a bit "fishy" indeed!
Our wipes are made of genuine chamois leather, tanned with deep sea cod oil to make it soft and durable, so it’s normal to have a slight fish smell. But don't worry! The smell usually goes away after a few uses.
